Ferdinand Otto Freiherr von Nordenflycht (born December 10, 1816 in Minden ; † May 24, 1901 in Berlin ) was a Prussian civil servant and most recently the Upper President of the Province of Silesia .

Life

Ferdinand von Nordenflycht was born on December 10, 1816 as the son of the government councilor and later Marienwerder district president Jakob von Nordenflycht and his wife Johanna von Dalwigk (born October 23, 1798) in Minden.

After graduating from the Joachimsthaler Gymnasium in Berlin, he studied law and cameralia in Königsberg , Bonn and Berlin . In 1836 he became a member of the Corps Rhenania Bonn . He then completed the usual training for higher officials and in January 1843 was appointed a government assessor with the government in Magdeburg . A year later he worked as a research assistant in the Prussian Ministry of Finance. From 1845 to 1849 he was a government assessor with the government in Erfurt ; from 1849 to 1851 consultant in the literary cabinet, d. H. the press office of the Prussian State Ministry. In 1850, Nordenflycht moved to Posen as a councilor . In 1857 he went to Stralsund as a government vice-president with the rank of senior government councilor . He then worked as a councilor in Arnsberg from 1858 , before Nordenflycht moved to Minden as director of government in 1862 . There he became President of the Government in June 1866. In the years 1866 and 1867, Nordenflycht was also a member of the Prussian House of Representatives . He belonged to the conservative party . In February 1867 he became regional president in Frankfurt an der Oder . From May 1873, Nordenflycht was President of Silesia and, at the same time, President of the Government of Wroclaw . In November 1874 he was put into temporary retirement because he was hesitant to implement the Kulturkampf Laws. For this reason he was denied the usual appointment to the Real Privy Council when leaving the service. In June 1875 he was finally released from civil service. He died in Berlin on May 24, 1901.

He married Adelheid Conrad on July 1, 1845 (February 21, 1821 - November 16, 1862). The couple had several children:
