Georg Hermann Julius Bodo Friedrich von Borries junior (born March 9, 1857 in Herford , † December 19, 1922 in Bad Oeynhausen ) was a German manor owner and government official.

From 1909 to 1917 he was the district president of the Prussian administrative district of Minden in the province of Westphalia .

Life

Borries was born in 1857 as the son of the Borries family from the imperial nobility in Herford, who originally came from Minden . The von Borries family was one of the most politically influential families in Westphalia in the 19th and early 20th centuries; it produced numerous high-ranking Prussian government officials and members of parliament.

Georg von Borries put in 1875 at the high school in Herford, the leaving certificate , and was from 1876 to 1877 volunteer with the 2nd Guard Lancers followed Secondeleutnant the reserve of this regiment.

Then he studied in Heidelberg and Berlin law . In Heidelberg he joined the Corps Vandalia in 1875 . In 1878 he passed the examination as a trainee lawyer and received his doctorate in Göttingen in November 1878 as Doctor iuris utriusque (both rights) . In 1883 he also passed the exam to become a government assessor. From 1878 to 1881 he worked at various courts, and from 1881 to 1883 at the district government in Opole . In the years 1883 and 1884 he worked in various Landdrosteien and offices and in 1885 he became district administrator of the north district . After 1890, his brother Rudolf von Borries , the District of Herford had been passed, the local asked council in 1891 to appoint him as successor in the district office. On February 23, 1891 Borries was transferred to Herford as district administrator, he remained in this office until 1902. From 1892 to 1904 he was a member of the Provincial Parliament of the Province of Westphalia for the constituency of Herford, Herford-Land. On December 14, 1902, he was then appointed Police President of Berlin. He held this office from January 1, 1903 until he was transferred as district president to Magdeburg in 1908. On October 27, 1909, he was transferred to the administrative district of Minden , his home region, as district president . He remained in this position until he retired in 1917.

Georg von Borries was a Protestant and married.

His grandfather Philipp von Borries , his father Georg von Borries , his brother Rudolf von Borries as a predecessor and his close relative Franz von Borries as his successor were district administrators of the Herford district for over a hundred years from 1832 to 1933. Another Franz von Borries was also a predecessor of Georg von Borries as district president in Minden.

Awards

Georg von Borries was awarded the Red Eagle Order II. Class with Oak Leaves , the Prussian Crown Order II. Class with Star and the Landwehr Service Award II. Treasury. He was a legal knight of the Order of St. John and held the title Real Secret Upper Government Councilor, First Class .
