Franz von Borries (District Administrator, 1868)

Franz Anton Wilhelm Gustav von Borries (born April 15, 1868 in Hildesheim , † January 8, 1943 in Berlin ) was a German government official.

From 1903 to 1933 Franz von Borries was district administrator of the Prussian district of Herford in Westphalia .

Life

Franz von Borries was born as the son of the Borries family from the imperial nobility in Hildesheim, who originally came from Minden . His parents were Philipp Diedrich Arnold Franz von Borries and his wife Adelheid Anna Sophie von Linsingen .

He studied law in Bonn , Berlin and Munich . In Bonn he joined the Corps Guestphalia in 1886 . In 1889 and 1890 he was a volunteer soldier in Infantry Regiment No. 15, and in 1901 he became a lieutenant in the regiment's reserve. In the years 1889 and 1895 Franz von Borries passed the exams to become a court trainee and court assessor. From 1889 to 1903 he worked for various courts and government agencies, most recently in the Prussian Ministry of Agriculture. On January 1, 1903, Franz von Borries was entrusted with the administration of the district office in Herford. He was the successor of his close relative Georg von Borries , who had been appointed police chief of Berlin in December 1902 . On August 15, 1903, he was finally appointed district administrator, which he held until his retirement in October 1933. With Franz von Borries the more than one hundred year history of the district administrators of Herford from the Borries family ends .

He married in June 1896 in Hamm Martha Pauline Wilhelmine Klara Kamp (born June 1, 1872; October 10, 1946), a daughter of the general director of the Hütenwerkgesellschaft Phönix (from 1874 to 1898 Westphalian Union in Hamm) Wilhelm Heinrich Kamp (1841–1927) and Klara Küper .

Awards

Franz von Borries was a member of the Order of St. John , holder of the Red Eagle Order IV class , the Prussian Crown Order III. Class , the Landwehr Service Award 1st Class and the Iron Cross 2nd Class . Since 1903 he has held the title of Privy Councilor .
