The snow castle of Kemi ( Finnish: Kemin lumilinna) is the largest castle in the world made of snow. It is used as an ice hotel and is built annually in winter with changing architecture in Kemi , Finland .

Facts

The first snow castle was visited by over 300,000 visitors in 1996. The dimensions varied from 13,000 to 20,000 m², the highest tower was over 20 meters high and the longest wall over 1 km long. In the complex there is a restaurant, a hotel and a chapel. Due to a corresponding cooperation with the Finnish Evangelical Lutheran Church, weddings are possible in the Snow Hotel. The associated wedding celebrations can be held in the restaurant and bar area, the hotel area also includes a honeymoon suite.
