Moritz Haubold von Schönberg

Moritz Haubold von Schönberg (born September 22, 1770 in Geußnitz , † April 18, 1860 in Groß Krauschen ) was the Upper President of the Prussian provinces of Silesia and Pomerania .

origin

He came from the Saxon noble family von Schönberg and was the son of Carl Haubold von Schönberg (* 1731; † December 17, 1790) on Geußnitz and his wife Johanna Wilhelmina von Schönfeld (born September 26, 1739).

life and work

Moritz Haubold von Schönberg was the first district president in the administrative district of Merseburg from 1816 to 1822, with his official seat in Merseburg ( province of Saxony ). From 1824 to 1825 he was President of the Province of Silesia in Breslau and was then Second Director in the Prussian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

In 1831 he was appointed President of the Pomeranian Province in Szczecin . In the same year, von Schönberg was appointed Real Privy Councilor with the title of excellence . He held office until 1835.

family

On December 21, 1807, he married Countess Luise zu Stolberg-Wernigerode . From this marriage only the daughter Auguste (1808–1864) emerged, who married Magnus Graf von Schlieffen (1796–1864) in 1828. His grandson was the future General Field Marshal Alfred Graf von Schlieffen .

The Greussnitz line expired with the death of Moritz Haubold von Schönberg.
