Heinz Froebel

Heinz Fröbel (born December 22, 1921 in Sommerfeld , Crossen (Oder) district ; † March 23, 2018 in Kassel ) was a German politician ( FDP ). From 1979 to 1984 he was the district president of the administrative district of Kassel .

Life

After graduating from high school, Froebel was drafted into the Wehrmacht , took part in the Second World War as a soldier and was most recently taken prisoner by the US. After his release from captivity, he began studying economics at the Philipps University of Marburg . On July 5, 1950, he was reciprocated in the Corps Rhenania Strasbourg . He completed his studies with an examination as a qualified economist. In 1952 he became the personal assistant to the general manager of the Kassel Chamber of Commerce and Industry . In the following year he took over the management of the traffic department at the Chamber of Industry and Commerce.

Froebel joined the FDP in 1960. He was active in local politics , was a city councilor in Kassel from 1960 and there from 1968 to 1979 chairman of the FDP parliamentary group. He was a member of the supervisory boards of the documenta , the municipal works and the Kasseler Verkehrs-Gesellschaft . At the same time he was the FDP parliamentary group chairman of the regional planning community in North Hesse. Although he had not gained any official experience by then, he was appointed regional president of the Kassel administrative district in March 1979. He held this position until August 1984. In view of the situation at the time in the border area , he mainly campaigned for a better connection of Kassel to the trunk road and rail network during his tenure. From 1985 to 1989 he was a member of the Kassel magistrate for one electoral term.

Fröbel holds the honorary title of city ​​elder from Kassel . He was awarded the Hessian Freiherr vom Stein plaque and in 1986 he was awarded the Cross of Merit 1st Class of the Federal Republic of Germany.

Heinz Fröbel was married and lived in the Wolfsanger district of Kassel .
