Ulrich Krebs (born June 19, 1968 in Frankfurt am Main ) is a Hessian politician ( CDU ) and since May 9, 2006 district administrator of the Hochtaunus district .

education and profession

Ulrich Krebs grew up in Eppstein-Bremthal and graduated from the Bischof-Neumann-Schule in Königstein im Taunus in 1987 . After graduating from high school, he did his military service with Supply Battalion 2 in Kassel and Wolfhagen . He then studied Middle and Modern History with the minor subjects Ancient History and Law at the University of Bonn and the Goethe University in Frankfurt am Main. He completed his studies in 1996 with a master's degree with distinction.

From 1997 to 1999 he worked as personal advisor and office manager of the then District Administrator Jürgen Banzer in Bad Homburg vor der Höhe .

From 1993 to 1998 Ulrich Krebs was deputy and from 1998 to 2005 chairman of the CDU district parliamentary group in the district assembly of the Main-Taunus district . He was particularly committed to school development and sustainable finance, hospital and social policy.

Krebs had been the first city councilor of Flörsheim am Main since autumn 1999 , before he was elected mayor there in 2001 .

Ulrich Krebs has been directly elected District Administrator of the Hochtaunus district since May 9, 2006. He won the direct election on March 26, 2006 in the first ballot with 56.4 percent of the vote and thus succeeded Jürgen Banzer, who was previously appointed Minister of Justice in the Hessian state government. On January 28, 2018, he was re-elected with 57.3% of the votes in the first ballot. The Green candidate, Ellen Enslin , achieved 27.4 percent. The politician had already stood against Ulrich Krebs in 2006. The candidate of the FDP, Holger Grupe, received 15.3 percent of the vote in his first district candidacy.

Krebs continued the school building program of the Hochtaunuskreis that had already started under his predecessor. During his tenure, the new buildings for the Philipp Reis School (Friedrichsdorf) and the Oberursel grammar school were built . With an investment volume of around 70 million euros (Philipp Reis School) and around 60 million euros (Oberursel grammar school), these two construction measures are the largest single measures in school construction that the Hochtaunuskreis has ever implemented. Due to its special architectural quality, the new building of the Oberursel grammar school was awarded the Johann Wilhelm Lehr plaque by the Association of German Architects in early 2013 . In March 2015, Krebs received the BDA award for building culture in Hesse 2014/2015 in the German Architecture Museum (DAM) in Frankfurt am Main for the school building initiative “Schools for the 21st Century”.

As the district administrator of the Hochtaunus district, Krebs is also chairman of the supervisory board of the district's own Hochtaunus-Kliniken gGmbH. Under his responsibility, the decision to build new clinics at the Bad Homburg and Usingen locations was made in 2007. The new buildings were erected between 2011 and 2013 as part of a PPP project. Due to its innovative nature, the state of Hesse supported the investment with funds amounting to 70 million euros. As the sponsor of the Hochtaunus clinics, the Hochtaunuskreis has secured the remaining financing through guarantees and at the same time has spoken out in favor of maintaining the Hochtaunus clinics in public ownership. The two new clinic buildings went into operation at the beginning of 2014.

Other offices

Krebs is chairman of the administrative board of Taunus Sparkasse (alternating with Michael Cyriax , the district administrator of the Main-Taunus district) . In accordance with the schedule, Krebs will hold the chair again in 2015 and 2016.

Krebs is chairman of the finance committee of the Hessian District Assembly , which represents the common interests of the 21 Hessian districts vis-à-vis the state and federal government, but also in relation to cities and municipalities. At the same time, Krebs is a member of the finance committee of the German district assembly .

In numerous regional associations and societies, Krebs has also been working for the interests of the Hochtaunuskreis in the Rhine-Main region and for closer regional cooperation for years. Krebs is chairman of the supervisory board of IVM GmbH (Integrated Transport and Mobility Management Region Frankfurt RheinMain), chairman of the special purpose association “ Naturpark Taunus ” (until 2013 “Naturpark Hochtaunus”) and since June 2013 deputy chairman of the supervisory board of Rhein-Main-Verkehrsverbund GmbH (RMV) and took over the chairmanship of the working group (AG) Hessischer Naturparkträger in October 2015.

From 2011 to 2013, Krebs was also chairman of the cultural committee of the non-profit cultural fund Frankfurt RheinMain GmbH. The purpose of the cultural fund is to promote culture and art in the Frankfurt-Rhein-Main region. The partners of the Kulturfonds are the cities of Frankfurt, Darmstadt, Wiesbaden and Hanau as well as the Main-Taunus-Kreis, the Hochtaunuskreis and the State of Hesse.
