Elections in the Hochtaunuskreis
This article gives the results of the district council elections as well as the direct elections of the district administrator in the Hochtaunus district .
Direct election of the district administrator in 2018
The district administrator was elected directly on January 28, 2018. In addition to the incumbent District Administrator Ulrich Krebs (CDU), Ellen Enslin stood as a candidate for the Greens and Holger Grupe for the FDP. The SPD, which forms a grand coalition with the CDU in the district council, renounced its own candidate. The first round of mayoral elections in Königstein took place on the same day.
The turnout of 29.7% was slightly higher than in the previous election. Ulrich Krebs won the election in the first ballot with 57.3% against Ellen Enslin (27.4%) and Holger Gruppe (15.3%).
Direct election of the district administrator in 2012
The direct election of the district administrator took place on January 23, 2012. In addition to the incumbent District Administrator Ulrich Krebs (CDU), only Norman Dießner stood as a candidate for the Greens. The SPD, which forms a grand coalition with the CDU in the district council, renounced its own candidate. The FDP called for the election of Ulrich Krebs.
Of the 173,940 voters, only 45,629 voted. The turnout of 26.2% was the lowest that had ever taken place in elections in the Hochtaunus district.
Ulrich Krebs won with 28,304 votes (63.3%) against Norman Dießner, who received 16,407 votes (36.7%).
District election 2011
The current district council of the Hochtaunuskreis was elected on March 27, 2011.

Direct election of the district administrator in 2006
On March 26, 2006, the district administrator was directly elected (together with the district council election). The new election had become necessary because the previous District Administrator Jürgen Banzer had been appointed Minister of the State of Hesse. The FDP, which formed a coalition with the CDU in the district council, renounced its own candidate and called for Ulrich Krebs to be elected. Of 171,304 eligible voters, 80,850 cast their votes. The turnout was 47.2%.
Ulrich Krebs (CDU) won the election in the first ballot with 44,197 (56.5%) votes. Manfred Gönsch (SPD) received 23,808 (30.4%), Ellen Enslin (Greens) 10,282 (13.1% of the) votes.
District election 2006
On March 26, 2006, the district council was elected as part of the local elections in Hesse in 2006 . The 71 MPs belonged to or were nominated by all seven parties and electoral communities that stood for election.

Direct election of the district administrator in 2002
On August 18, 2002 the direct election of the district administrator took place. The FDP, which together with the CDU formed a coalition in the district council, renounced its own candidate and called for Jürgen Banzer to be elected. Of the 170,063 eligible voters, 54,977 cast their votes. The turnout was 32.3%.
Jürgen Banzer (CDU) won the election in the first ballot with 37,491 (69.1%) votes. Manfred Gönsch (SPD) received 16,733 (30.9%) votes.
District election 2001
On March 18, 2006, the district council was elected in the 2001 local elections in Hesse .

Direct election of the district administrator in 1996
The district administrator's first direct election took place on October 6, 1996. The FDP, which together with the CDU formed a coalition in the district council, renounced its own candidate and called for the election of the incumbent District Administrator Jürgen Banzer. Of the 167,248 eligible voters, 68,619 cast their votes. The turnout was 41.0%.
Jürgen Banzer (CDU) won the election in the first ballot with 37,014 (54.9%) votes. The Mayor of Usingen Eva-Maria Tempelhahn (SPD) received 27,549 (40.9%) votes. The independent mayor of Neu-Anspach, Gerd Hillen, received 2,852 (4.2%).
District election 1993
On March 7, 1993, the district council was elected as part of the local elections in Hesse in 1993 .
The choice was massively determined by the corruption affair in the Hochtaunus district that came to light in November 1991 . On November 21, 1991, searches were carried out at the same time in most town halls and private houses of leading district politicians from all parties. The first cancer orderer Hans-Joachim Galuschka (CDU) and the mayors of Neu-Anspach Heinz Born (SPD), Usingen Rolf Eggebrecht and von Schmitten Georg Hahl (CDU) were arrested and convicted of corruption .
