Klaus Peter Schellhaas (born September 16, 1960 in Darmstadt ) is a German local politician of the SPD . From 2000 to 2006 he was mayor of the municipality of Modautal . Since 2009, he succeeds Alfred Jakoubek in the office of the district administrator of the district of Darmstadt-Dieburg .

In 1979 Schellhaas graduated from the Bertolt Brecht School in Darmstadt. He then signed up for two years as a contract soldier in the Bundeswehr. He was stationed in Elberfeld . As a reserve officer he left the Bundeswehr and studied social pedagogy at the Darmstadt University of Applied Sciences from 1981 . He graduated from this course in 1984 with a diploma in social education. He was then employed for three years in the educational assistance department of the City of Frankfurt am Main . Schellhaas moved to the Frankfurt am Main regional courtinto probation. He worked there until he was elected mayor of the Modautal community. Schellhaas served as mayor until 2006, and in 2007 he was elected the first district member of the Darmstadt-Dieburg district. In the district election on April 26, 2009, he was elected to succeed Alfred Jakoubek as district administrator. On April 19, 2015, Schellhaas was re-elected as District Administrator with 65.1% of the vote.

Schellhaas is the father of a daughter.
