Rainer Lind
Rainer Lind (* 1954 in Darmstadt ) is a German painter , draftsman and graphic artist .
life and work
Lind first studied from 1975 to 1979 at the Darmstadt University of Applied Sciences in the field of design, graduate designer. He then switched to the Düsseldorf Art Academy and studied painting with Gotthard Graubner . In 1981 he continued his studies at the Johann Wolfgang Goethe University in Frankfurt in the subjects of art history and philosophy. Since 1983 he has been a member of the Darmstadt Secession and from 1985 taught the basic theory of drawing at the Darmstadt University of Applied Sciences in the design department.
Since 1986 Lind has been working on concerts and music projects with Peter Brötzmann , AR Penck , JP Huftier, Norbert Großmann, Werner Cee, Joe Sachse , Michael Wertmüller , Marino Pliakas, among others . The foundation of the music group The men sit in the puddles of erosion and drink wine took place in 1993 on his initiative. From 1998 to 2004 Lind was chairman of the Darmstadt Secession and since 2001 one of the three board spokesmen. In 2002 he became a lecturer for Internet technologies at the Philipps University of Marburg in the computer science department. A work stay at Plüschow Castle as part of the Mecklenburg Artists' House to restore the works of art began in 2005.
Since 2010, Rainer Lind has devoted himself more and more to video art. In 2012 he started a project with video portraits: He invites people around him to a one-hour conversation in front of the video camera. Around 600 such video portraits have now been created. Since the 2018 winter semester he has been teaching as a lecturer at the TU Darmstadt, Department of Architecture, "Biographical Positions in the World of Architecture in Image and Sound".
Rainer Lind lives and works in the Laubach district of Altenhain and Darmstadt.
Prizes and awards
- In 1983 he received the New Darmstadt Secession Prize
- In 1986 he received the Georg Christoph Lichtenberg Prize for Painting from the Darmstadt-Dieburg district
- In 1989 he received a grant from the State of Hesse to study at Casa Baldi in Olevano and Villa Massimo in Rome, Italy
- In 2003 he got a working scholarship to the Cité in Paris

Since 1980, Lind had around 50 solo exhibitions in galleries and museums and participated in numerous art fairs, for example in Basel ( Art Basel ), Cologne ( Art Cologne ) and Frankfurt ( Fine art fair frankfurt ).
