Valentin Jost

Valentin Jost (born February 16, 1920 in Nied , today in Frankfurt am Main ; † May 17, 2007 in Hofheim am Taunus ) was a German politician ( SPD ) and district administrator of the Main-Taunus district in Hesse .

education and profession

Valentin Jost graduated from high school in 1938 and did military service until May 1945. After the war he studied law and passed the first state examination in 1949 and the second in 1952. In 1952 he worked as a legal assistant in Frankfurt and in 1953 switched to the civil service in the Hessian Ministry of the Interior . In 1954 he received his doctorate with the thesis "The communal savings banks in relation to state supervision" for Dr. jur. In 1954 he became a councilor and in 1965 government director.

After leaving the district administrator, he moved to the state-owned Hessische Landesbahn GmbH as managing director in 1979 and at the same time became a member of the board of its subsidiaries Frankfurt-Königsteiner Eisenbahn , Butzbach-Licher Eisenbahn and Kassel-Naumburger Eisenbahn . He carried out these tasks until his retirement in 1990.

Valentin Jost had been married since 1955 and had two sons and a daughter.

politics

Jost belonged to the SPD and was district administrator for the Main-Taunus district from 1966 to 1978. His term of office was marked by the regional reform in Hesse . As part of this reform, the Main-Taunus district was retained, but there were a number of changes in the allocation of communities to the district.

Other offices

Jost was long-time district chairman of the Red Cross .

Honors

Dr. Valentin Jost was awarded the Federal Cross of Merit, 1st class.
