James West

James West (born July 26, 1856 in Birkenhead , † January 26, 1922 ) was an English football coach and general secretary of the branch of the Lancashire and Yorkshire Railway in Newton Heath , Manchester . He was the second "coach" of the Newton Heath team from which Manchester United later emerged. After the demise of Newton Heath in 1902, he re-established the team as Manchester United. He was the team's coach until 1903.
