Dieter Posch (born October 19, 1944 in Vienna ) is a German politician ( FDP ). From 1999 to 2003 and from 2009 to 2012 he was the Hessian Minister of State for Economics, Transport and Regional Development .

Life and work

After graduating from high school , Posch studied law and political science at the Universities of Marburg and Vienna , which he completed with the first and - after completing his legal clerkship - with the second legal state examination .

From 1974 to 1987 he worked as a department head at the regional council in Kassel . Here he worked as the head of the transport department and dealt with questions of local public transport, transport planning and, in particular, with the planning approval law for road and rail. For important traffic projects in North Hesse, such as the autobahn and the ICE route Hanover-Kassel-Würzburg , he led the consultation process.

Posch has worked as a lawyer from 1987 to 1989, from 1991 to 1999 and since 2004 . He currently belongs to a Berlin law firm.

Posch was temporarily a member of the board of trustees of the Wolf-Erich-Kellner Memorial Foundation .

Dieter Posch is married and has two children. His son Christopher Posch works as a lawyer and project developer and was the main actor in two documentary soaps on RTL .

Political party

Posch has been a member of the FDP since 1966. He was initially the state chairman of the Young Democrats , the former youth organization of the FDP. Since 1972 he has been a member of the state executive committee of his party. In the meantime, he was district chairman of the North Hessian FDP for several years. From 1994 to 2009 he was deputy state chairman of the FDP Hessen .

From 1972 to 1977 and from 1981 to 1997 he was a member of the district council of the Schwalm-Eder district .

Posch was a member of the Hessian state parliament from 1987 until his resignation on September 1, 1989 . On November 11, 1994, he replaced the resigned MP Wolfgang Gerhardt in the state parliament, to which he was a member until 1999. Since 2003 he has been a member of the state parliament again. From 1996 to 1999 he was deputy chairman of the FDP parliamentary group . From 2003 to 2005 he was a member of the Enquête Commission for the reform of the Hessian constitution. Dieter Posch began his work as a domestic and media politician. Later he switched to economic policy and dealt with economic, regional and transport policy. During the 17th legislative period (2008-2009) Posch was Vice President of the Hessian State Parliament.

Public offices

From September 1989 to April 1991 Posch was State Secretary in the Hessian Ministry of Economics and Technology.

After the state elections in 1999, he was appointed to the state government of Hesse, led by Prime Minister Roland Koch ( CDU ), on April 7, 1999 as Hessian State Minister for Economics, Transport and Regional Development . The focus of his work was the promotion of foreign trade activities as well as initiatives to accelerate the licensing law.

Since the CDU was able to achieve an absolute majority in the 2003 state election , he left office on April 5, 2003. As a member of the state parliament, Posch took over the chairmanship of an expert commission to accelerate approval procedures. A number of proposals from this commission were incorporated into the federal planning acceleration law .

After the early Hessian state elections in 2009 , he was reappointed Hessian Minister of State for Economics, Transport and Regional Development on February 5, 2009. In May 2012, Posch resigned from this office at the age of 67; the previous leader of the FDP parliamentary group, Florian Rentsch , was appointed as his successor .
