Ludwig Keil (born August 1, 1896 in Bickenbach / Bergstrasse , † January 8, 1952 in Darmstadt ) was a communist politician.

Life

The son of a railroad worker completed an apprenticeship in a metal trade and was seriously wounded as a soldier during the First World War . In 1917 he became a member of the SPD and in 1920 he joined the KPD , which he represented in Offenbach's city ​​parliament and temporarily headed its local political department in Hesse. Unlike the large majority of the Offenbach KPD around Heinrich Galm , Keil did not join the KPO in 1929 , but stayed in the KPD, for which he moved up to the Landtag of the People's State of Hesse at the end of 1931 . He was a member of the parliamentary group until 1933.

After the NSDAP came to power in 1933, Keil was imprisoned several times, including in the Dachau and Osthofen concentration camps .

In 1945 after the liberation from National Socialism , Keil initially acted as ministerial director in the Hessian Ministry of Economics and Transport . In 1946 he was elected to the state parliament for the KPD Hessen and was deputy chairman there until 1949 and then chairman of the communist parliamentary group in the place of Leo Bauer, who was later accused in a Stalinist show trial in the GDR .
