Wilhelm Conrad (politician)

Wilhelm Conrad (born June 21, 1911 in Gießen ; † July 31, 1971 in Wiesbaden ) was a German economist, politician ( SPD ) and member of the Hessian state parliament .

Life

After graduating from high school, Conrad first studied law and political science and later switched to the subjects of economics and actuarial mathematics. He passed the exam to become a certified insurance technician, completed his studies in 1934 with a doctorate in Dr. rer. pole. and since 1936 worked as a commercial clerk in the insurance industry. From 1940 to 1942 he took part in the Second World War as a soldier .

After the end of the war, Conrad became the managing director of a housing association. From 1949 to 1956 he was Vice President of the Federal Compensation Office in Bad Homburg before the height . In 1964 he became CEO of the Hessische Landesbank .

Conrad had been a member of the NSDAP since May 1, 1937 ( membership number 5,427,177) and also an SA member. After the Second World War, Conrad became a member of the SPD.

Conrad was a councilor for the city ​​of Giessen in 1948/49 . From 1958 to 1970 he was a member of the Hessian state parliament . From 1946 to 1949 he was Treasurer of the City of Giessen. From September 26, 1956 to September 16, 1964, he served in the state government led by Prime Minister Georg August Zinn as Hessian Minister of State for Finance .
