The 2005/06 season was the second season of the women's second division . The season began on August 14, 2005 and ended on June 5, 2006. The second season of the 2nd women's soccer division was far more exciting than the premiere season. With the exception of the two bottom of the table, the field moved closer together. Four of the six decisions were made on the last day of the game.
Season course
In the north group, VfL Wolfsburg and FC Gütersloh 2000 fought a thrilling duel for promotion. With the Wolfsburgers, the more experienced team finally prevailed. After a 3-0 win over SuS Timmel, they could already cheer on the penultimate game day. With Martina Müller , VfL provided the best female goalscorer in the league. Gütersloh missed the promotion because she simply couldn't take advantage of Wolfsburg's blunder and left points herself. Behind the top duo were Tennis Borussia Berlin, Wattenscheid 09 and the strengthened Victoria from barley. In Berlin internal disputes prevented a more successful season. Behind the scenes, a merger with the regional league club Blau Weiß Hohen Neuendorf was being considered. TSV Jahn Calden, who surprisingly reached third place last year, could not repeat the strong previous season and fell back to ninth place.
Potsdam's second team also dropped feathers. Both climbers were able to keep the class. While Kiel was in calm waters after Easter at the latest, the all-clear could only be given in Neubrandenburg after the penultimate matchday. A fierce battle against relegation broke out between Lütgendortmund and Timmel. The luckier end had the East Frisians, who were able to save themselves on the last day of play with a 2-2 win against Calden. The red lantern was firmly in the hands of MTV Wolfenbüttel for the entire season. A miracle like in the previous season did not materialize. Only two draws and seven goals were recorded for themselves.
There was also an exciting head-to-head race for promotion in the south. Crailsheim, who were relegated from the previous year, lost its lead over Saarbrücken in the past few weeks. On the last day of the match there was a showdown between the two opponents on Crailsheim soil. There the TSV kept their nerve and managed with a 2-0 victory after all, the direct rise. The three climbers triumphed tremendously. Cologne immediately reached fourth place, while old master Niederkirchen took fifth place.
The third climber, VfL Sindelfingen II, also managed to stay in the league. Since their own first team was relegated from the Bundesliga , the reserve had to return to the Oberliga Baden-Württemberg. Jena was able to confirm the strong third place of the previous season. Sand, Munich and Frankfurt had to give way to the strong climbers and only reached the rear midfield. Aue was able to celebrate relegation earlier than a year ago. Karlsruher SC benefited from the forced relegation of Sindelfingen. The Baden women put up the worst defense and conceded the most defeats of the southern group. Viktoria Jägersburg was last. After their first win of the season on the penultimate match day, the Homburg women drew hope again. But a 3-0 defeat in Aue destroyed all dreams of relegation.
Actually, the relegation between the third from last of the two groups should have taken place for the first time this season. Since the Bundesliga relegated FSV Frankfurt decided not to start in the 2nd Bundesliga, the DFB canceled the relegation games at short notice and left it with four relegated teams.

Promotion lap
The champions of the four regional leagues rose automatically : Hamburger SV II ( North ), 1. FC Lokomotive Leipzig ( Northeast ), Herford SV ( West ) and SC 07 Bad Neuenahr II ( Southwest ).
Since the South German Football Association does not have a regional league, the champions of the upper leagues of Hesse, Baden-Württemberg and Bavaria have to play a promotion round. The following teams qualified for this: TGM SV Jügesheim (Hessen), FV Löchgau ( Baden-Württemberg ) and SC Regensburg (Bavaria).
date | pairing | Result | ||
May 25, 2006 | TGM SV Jügesheim | - | FV Löchgau | 1: 1 |
May 28, 2006 | SC Regensburg | - | TGM SV Jügesheim | 2-0 |
June 3, 2006 | FV Löchgau | - | SC Regensburg | 1: 2 |
