Martina Müller (born April 18, 1980 in Kassel ) is a former German soccer player . The striker won the triple with VfL Wolfsburg in 2013 .
Career
Martina Müller played in various North Hessian clubs before moving to the then reigning champions FSV Frankfurt in 1998 . Since the FSV lost almost all of its stars like Birgit Prinz or Sandra Smisek that summer , Müller became a regular player and kept her league with her goals.
After two years in Frankfurt, she moved to SC 07 Bad Neuenahr . On July 22, 2000, she made her debut against the USA in the German national team. A year later she became European champion with the national team. In 2003 Müller became world champion, a year later she won the bronze medal at the Olympic Games in Athens . In the summer of 2005, she suddenly switched to VfL Wolfsburg, who had just been relegated from the Bundesliga. With 36 goals, Müller was the top scorer in the 2nd Bundesliga North in the following season and was therefore a guarantee for direct promotion .
At the EM 2009 she came to two missions, where she was awarded the 1-0 win against Iceland as "Player of the Game". She was also nominated for the 2011 World Cup , but was not used.
In the national team she was mainly used as a " joker " (75 substitutions, 25 goals) and only played 11 games over the full distance, in which she scored eight goals. On September 19, 2012, she made her 100th international appearance in a 10-0 win against Turkey and scored three goals for the second time in an international match . On November 20, 2012, she announced her resignation from the national team. Nine days later, she played her last international match. In total, she scored 37 goals in 101 games, of which she was substituted on in 75 games.
In 2013 she won the triple of the German championship, the German cup and the Champions League with VfL Wolfsburg. These were also their first club titles. In the last game of the season, the final of the Champions League against Olympique Lyon , she scored the decisive goal with a penalty to make it 1-0. A year later she won the Champions League again with VfL Wolfsburg. In the final, she scored two goals, including the winning goal to make it 4: 3. In the tournament she scored 10 hits.
In addition to her teammates Nilla Fischer and Nadine Keßler , she was nominated for the 2014 UEFA Best Women's Player in Europe Award and came second in the poll.
At the end of the 2014/15 season, she ended her career.
