The Börner II cabinet formed the state government of Hesse from December 14, 1978 to July 4, 1984 . The Prime Minister was elected on December 1, 1978.
After the state elections in 1982 did not result in a governable majority, the cabinet remained in office, which led to early elections in September 1983. The formation of a cabinet remained difficult, however, and it took more than nine more months for the successor government to begin its work.
The two FDP ministers, whose party had missed entry into the state parliament in 1982, resigned two days after the state elections on September 28, 1982. Since no posts may be filled in a management cabinet, two SPD ministers took over her duties.
