The Eichel I cabinet formed the state government of Hesse from April 5, 1991 to April 5, 1995 .
The 1991 state election resulted in a narrow majority for a red-green government. The two parties had as many seats in the state parliament as were required for an absolute majority. However, that was enough to elect Hans Eichel as Prime Minister on April 5, 1991, who had his ministers sworn in on the same day.
