The Hessian Ministry for Science and Art is the university and culture ministry of the State of Hesse . State Minister Angela Dorn ( Alliance 90 / The Greens ) heads the house as a member of the Hessian state government .
history
The Ministry was spun off from the Hessian Ministry of Education on July 4, 1984 . The Ministry of Culture then remained responsible for school and part of the church affairs.
Since 1987, the Hessian Ministry of Science and Art has been housed in a rented, Wilhelminian -style, neo-baroque office building between Rheinstrasse and Luisenstrasse in Wiesbaden , which served as the Wiesbaden main post office from 1905 to 1975 and was then converted and renovated accordingly.

As a rule, the Ministry's tasks consist of technical and legal supervision as well as the promotion of science and art in Hesse. In addition, the Ministry is responsible for questions of higher education, research and cultural policy.
The ministry has around 235 employees. Around 2016 people are employed in the subordinate authorities. A further 11,227 employees are employed in the subordinate universities.
