The Ministry of Economics, Science and Digitization of the State of Saxony-Anhalt (MW) is a ministry of the state government of Saxony-Anhalt . The seat is the City Carré Magdeburg , Hasselbachstraße 4, in Magdeburg .

The authority is headed by Minister Armin Willingmann , he is supported by Thomas Wünsch (Head of Office) and Jürgen Ude as State Secretaries.

history

After the Second World War, there were initially no ministries. In the "Provincial Administration of Saxony" formed in 1945, a vice-president was responsible for the economy. In 1946 a Ministry of Economics and Transport was founded. This was split up in 1949 into the Ministry of Economics and the Ministry of Transport , with the former being transformed into the Ministry of Economics, Industry, Construction and Labor in 1950 . This existed until the state was dissolved in 1952.

With the re-establishment of the state of Saxony-Anhalt in 1990, the Ministry of Economics, Technology and Transport was re-established. Its responsibilities have been adjusted several times in the following governments. The ministry has had the following names since 1990:

The ministry is divided into four departments according to its areas of responsibility:

  • Department 1: Administration and Law
  • Department 2: Digitization and Innovation
  • Department 3: Economic Development and Mining
  • Department 4: Universities, Science and Research

Business promotion

The Investment and Marketing Corporation Saxony-Anhalt mbH (IMG) is the central business development company and marketing agency of the state of Saxony-Anhalt founded in 1990 . Thomas Einsfelder has been the managing director since 2017. The chairman of the supervisory board is Armin Willingmann . The company takes on tasks in the areas of company acquisition, business development , image and location marketing as well as tourism external marketing.

Since January 2019, the investment and marketing company has been pursuing a realignment with an increased focus on business settlements and networking with research and university institutions.

Since 2014, representatives from the chambers of industry and commerce have been appointed to the supervisory board in order to ensure intensive networking with the regional economy.
