Conference of Economic Ministers

The Conference of Economic Ministers , WMK for short, is a conference of specialist ministers of the German states . The economics ministers and senators of the Federal Republic of Germany meet at the annual meeting . The Federal Minister for Economic Affairs and Energy takes part in the meeting as a permanent guest without voting rights. The conferences of economics ministers are prepared by the conferences of the heads of office (ACK) of the economic ministries of the federal states, which take place twice a year.

The Conference of Economic Ministers is a permanent institution and, in addition to the mutual exchange of information and experience, serves to promote joint economic cooperation and coordination between the countries. It discusses issues related to economic policy and formulates the interests of the states vis-à-vis the federal government. In order to have a binding effect, resolutions at the conference of economics ministers must be passed unanimously.

The chairmanship rotates every two years according to a fixed rotation between the federal states. Kristina Vogt , Bremen Senator for Economics, Labor and Europe will hold the chair from 2019-2020 .
