The Saarland State Chancellery is the official seat of the Saarland Prime Minister (currently Tobias Hans ) and a supreme state authority . The building in which the authority is housed is also referred to as the State Chancellery .

Henrik Eitel (CDU) has been the head of the state chancellery and representative of the Saarland at the federal government in Berlin since October 30, 2019 , succeeding Jürgen Lennartz ( CDU ), who held these offices from 2012 to 2019.

tasks

The State Chancellery supports the Prime Minister in his duties. According to the Saarland constitution, these are the chairmanship of the state government and the management of its business, the authority to issue guidelines and the representation of the state externally. The work of the individual Saarland ministries is coordinated in the State Chancellery .

Seat

The State Chancellery has been housed in an atrium building built in the 1950s on Ludwigsplatz in Saarbrücken since September 1958 . Previously, from 1945 to 1948, the headquarters were in Scheidterstrasse 114 and then in Bismarckstrasse in the Villa Rexroth, known as the “white house”. The Saarland Museum was later built on the site of the White House.
