The Lower Saxony Ministry for Science and Culture is one of ten ministries of the country Lower Saxony . It was established in 1974.
Björn Thümler ( CDU ) has headed the ministry since November 22, 2017 . State Secretary is Sabine Johannsen .
Seat
The ministry is based in the Lower Saxony state capital Hanover . Since 1989 it has been housed in the former Preussag administration building on Leibnizufer , which was built in 1953 according to plans by Gerhard Graubner . The building is a concrete - skeleton grid structure with an eight-story high-rise and two four-story longitudinal wings. When it was created, it was considered a modern construction with an approach to new urban planning. This is ensured by the existing light metal window frames with black and gold anodization , which was considered very noble when the building was built in the 1950s. The building is now a listed building .
tasks
The ministry is responsible for the cultural and scientific affairs of Lower Saxony. This includes the supervision and promotion of universities , colleges and technical colleges . It also organizes adult and further education .

- Department 3: Culture, Adult Education
