Service building
Initially, the Ministry of Culture was housed in a former private house on Hohenzollernstrasse. The company moved to the Schiffgraben site as early as 1948 . In addition, the Ministry of Culture had to use additional office buildings in Hedwigstraße, Bertastraße and Marienstraße due to the enlargement of the area of responsibility. Originally, the new government district was to be built in the so-called Warmbüchenviertel between Schiffgraben, Hedwigstraße, Warmbüchenstraße and Warmbüchenkamp.
With the aim of accommodating all departments in one building again in the foreseeable future, the move to a rented property at Hans Böckler-Allee 5/5 a in Hanover began in 2019. Gradually, further parts of the building complex will be occupied as soon as the previous tenants leave them. Since September 1, 2019, the location at Hans Böckler-Allee 5 has been the official seat of the ministry and thus also the postal address. Departments 1, 5 and parts of Department 2, Unit 01, the ministerial office and the press office are located there. The other departments are still working at the Schiffgraben, Bertastraße and Marienstraße locations until further notice.
