Horst Horrmann
Horst Horrmann (born May 3, 1941 in Poppendorf , Wehlau district ) is a German educator and politician ( CDU ).
Life and work
Horrmann was born the son of a farmer. Horrmann is married and has three children. After graduating from high school in Schöningen in 1962 , he began studying English, history and political science at the University of Göttingen , which he completed in 1966 with the examination for teaching at secondary schools. From 1960 to 1970 he worked as a teacher at a secondary school in Groß Ilsede and also completed part-time studies at the Technical University of Braunschweig , which he completed with the state examination for higher education. From 1970 to 1974 he worked as a teacher at the grammar school in Groß Ilsede.
In 1982/83 Horrmann was the head of the school supervisory authority in Hanover -Land I. 2005 to 2014: President of the DRK -Landesverband Niedersachsen .
Political party
Horrmann joined the CDU, joined the Junge Union (JU) and was JU district chairman in Peine from 1972 to 1974 . From 1979 to 2005 he was chairman of the CDU district association Peine and from 1976 to 1994 he was a member of the state board of the CDU Lower Saxony. From 1992 to 1994 he was chairman of the CDU regional association in Braunschweig.
MP
Horrmann was from 1972 to 1974 council member of the community Schmedenstedt . From 1972 to 2006 he was a member of the district council of the Peine district , where he was chairman of the CDU parliamentary group from 1981 to 1988 and was re-elected to this position in 1991. He was a member of the Lower Saxony state parliament from 1974 to 1982 and from 1983 to 2003. Here he was deputy chairman of the CDU parliamentary group from 1990 to 1998.
Public offices
Horrmann was appointed to the government of Lower Saxony led by Prime Minister Ernst Albrecht on November 9, 1988, as successor to Wolfgang Knies , and was appointed Lower Saxony's Minister of Culture . After the CDU was defeated in the state elections in May 1990, he left the government on June 21, 1990 and was replaced in his office by Rolf Wernstedt .
