Location of Groß Ilsede in Ilsede

Groß Ilsede is a village and at the same time the administrative seat of the municipality of Ilsede in the district of Peine , Lower Saxony .

history

Barrow fields from the late Bronze Age , which are around 1000 BC. Can be found in the community of Ilsede. In Bültener Holz, Heers ( Solschen ) and Gräwig ( Klein Ilsede ) there are barrows in several places.

A deed of gift dated November 3, 1053 mentions Groß Ilsede (Ilisede), after which Emperor Heinrich III. " The entire previous possession of the outlawed ( Saxony ) Tiemo " in the villages of Garmissen , Groß Ilsede, Dungelbeck and Südbolzum handed over to the church in Hildesheim . The 950th anniversary of Groß Ilsede was based on this document in 2003. The place is one of the five Junker villages of the Peine district and was subordinate to the noble family of the Knights of Ilsede (Ilisede) and, after their extinction in 1398/1399, to the lords in the lower jurisdiction from Gadenstedt . The Junk sovereignty lasted until 1873 in the last phase.

The “ playhouse ” ( town hall ) stood where the fire station is today . There the men met to discuss community matters, but also to celebrate and drink.

The start of operations at the Ilseder Hütte in 1858 marked a new, industrial phase in the history of the Ilseder region . Until then, the communities in this area were purely rural. From then on, iron ore mining and blast furnace operations shaped the working world and economy. Nevertheless, agriculture remained an important economic factor.

On February 1, 1971, Groß Ilsede was merged with five other communities to form the new community of Ilsede.

In 1995 the iron and steel works in Groß Ilsede was given up and most of it was demolished.

religion

The origins of the Evangelical Lutheran St. Nikolai Church on Nikolaistraße go back to the 16th century. The parish today belongs to the south-west region of the Peine parish.

The Catholic St. Bernward Church was built on Gerhardstrasse in 1959/60; it was designed by Josef Fehlig and is named after Bernward von Hildesheim . The first small St. Bernward Church had existed in Groß Ilsede as early as 1884. Since 2008 the parish has also included the Catholic churches in Hohenhameln , Lengede and Steinbrück . The church of St. Thomas in Adenstedt , which previously also belonged to the parish , was profaned in 2009 and demolished in 2010.

politics

In the course of the merger of the two communities Ilsede and Lahstedt to form the new community Ilsede , Groß Ilsede received a local council. After the merger, the nine local council members were elected in the early local elections on April 12, 2015:
