Solschen ( Low German Sulschen ) is a district of the municipality of Ilsede in the district of Peine , Lower Saxony .
geography
The place, consisting of the parts Klein Solschen ( Lüttjen Sulschen ) and Groß Solschen ( Gruten Sulschen ), lies west of Groß Ilsede and is connected to the community center via the K 72.
history
Barrows from the late Bronze Age , dating back to approx. 1000 BC. Can be found in the army.
Solschen was first mentioned in a document in 1161. It was the seat of an archdeacon and belonged to the cathedral chapter in the diocese of Hildesheim. The distinction between Groß Solschen and Klein Solschen has been common since the 13th century. In 1215, Eckehardus sacerdos de Solcze, a parish priest, is mentioned in a document. With the first evangelical preacher Henricus Wartsenstidde, the Reformation moved into Solschen on September 14, 1555. In 1830 Groß Solschen became the seat of an Evangelical-Lutheran superintendent through separation from the Peine inspection.
Groß Solschen and Klein Solschen merged on January 1, 1964 to form the community of Solschen. Since it was united with Ilsede on February 1, 1971, Solschen has been the municipality's largest town in terms of area.

coat of arms
On a red heraldic shield below a golden six-spoke wheel with a red jagged wreath and black hub, above a golden three-leaf oak wreath. The coat of arms was introduced in 1951 as the coat of arms of Groß Solschen and was established as a joint coat of arms after the merger of Groß and Klein Solschen.
Culture and sights
- The classicist ev.-luth. St. Pancratii Church was built between 1828 and 1834 according to plans by the Hanover consistorial architect Friedrich August Ludwig Hellner and was inaugurated on the First Advent in 1831, before the tower (55 m) was completed. A drawing of the church, which is kept in the church archives, shows that the pillars of the nave stand on the old foundations of the former mother church. Until the Reformation, Solschen was an archdeaconate place to which the villages of Lütchen Solschen, Lütchen Bülten, Groß Bülten, Ölsburg, Adenstedt, Bierbergen, Bekum, Rosenthal, Rötzom, Ohlum, Schwicheldt, Mehrum, Equordt, Stedum, Schwülper, and Eistlingen - both desolate, at the beginning around d. J. 1050 belonged.
- From the brine, which is still clearly visible today, brine gushed until the late 16th century, which made the place rich for a long time. The place name is derived from the Middle High German language (sul - sol = salt broth). The brine spring is still clearly visible, an important reference to the salt age in addition to the place name.
