Adenstedt is a district to the west of the community of Ilsede in the Peine district , Lower Saxony .

history

A barrow field from the time 1200 to 800 BC Chr. Im Lah in Adenstedt shows a very early human settlement in this area.

The village was first mentioned on June 29, 1282 in an agreement made between Duke Heinrich von Braunschweig and Knight Sigfrid Schadewalt.

In the second half of the 16th century, the Adenstedt pastor Johannes Sanders († 1588) wrote a tragedy about John the Baptist.

On February 1, 1971, Adenstedt was combined with the previously independent municipalities of Gadenstedt , Groß Lafferde , Münstedt and Oberg to form the municipality of Lahstedt .

On July 10, 2014, the members of the municipal council decided to merge the municipalities of Lahstedt and Ilsede. The merger of the municipalities was implemented on January 1, 2015.

The Protestant St. Briccius Church is located in Adenstedt (→ Culture and Sights), part of the Peine parish.

The Catholic St. Thomas Church was built in 1969. It was profaned in 2009 and demolished in 2010. Today the nearest Catholic church is in Groß Ilsede, five kilometers away .

In the coat of arms of Adenstedt, a silver rider armed with a shield and a lowered spear rides on a golden hill in red. The picture of the rider is based on the Hornhausen equestrian stone . For Adenstedt, he is said to embody the Germanic father of gods Odin (or Wodan) , who appears in an old legend that refers to the prehistoric barrows in Adenstedter Lah. A road on the edge of the forest is also called “Am Odinshain”.

Buildings

  • The Evangelical Lutheran St. Briccius Church was built in 1922 according to a design by Karl Mohrmann in Romanized forms.
  • The specially protected cultural monument barrows from approx. 1200 to 800 BC. Chr. Is accessible via designated paths.

Green spaces and recreation

  • The onshore pond Groß Bülten-Adenstedt is a 57 hectare pond landscape east of the village.
  • In a small wood on Bültener Strasse there is a plaque commemorating the Engelhardt shaft, which was sunk in 1910.

Sports

MTV Adenstedt, founded in 1894, merged in 1935 with the Adenstedter Spielvereinigung (founded in 1912 as the sports club "Eiche") and since 1945 has been known as the "Sportgemeinschaft von 1894".
