history
In the area of the community of Ilsede you can find the most accessible burial mounds in the southwest area of the Bültener Holz . They are only a few steps away from the path that leads from Groß Bülten to Rosenthal into the forest. A small forest path leads directly to the old grave field. Although some mighty trees have now grown on the grave mounds, the grave sites are still clearly visible.
At the edge of the forest, a boulder with the inscription "Grave field of the Bronze Age, approx. 1000 BC. Chr. ”To the historic cemetery. The site is one of the protected archaeological cultural monuments in the district of Peine , along with two others in the army (that is the neighboring wooded area to the northwest) and in Gräwig (northeast of the village of Klein Ilsede) .
During the witch hunts from 1564 to 1621, 22 people from the area of the community of Ilsede got into witch trials , 17 of them from Gadenstedt (nine people were burned, four died under torture ). Three people from Groß Ilsede were burned and a woman from Lafferde died under torture. The fate of a girl from Lahstedt is unknown.
The start of operations at the Ilseder Hütte in 1858 marked a new, industrial phase in the history of the Ilseder region. Until then, the communities in this area were purely rural. From then on, iron ore mining and blast furnace operations shaped the working world and economy. Nevertheless, agriculture remained an important economic factor.
The municipality of Ilsede as a local authority has existed since February 1st, 1971. Even before the regional reform in Lower Saxony , the municipalities of Bülten, Groß Bülten, Groß Ilsede, Klein Ilsede, Ölsburg and Solschen joined forces to form the newly created unified municipality of Ilsede. The communities, which were independent up to this point in time, were largely regarded as belonging together due to the many similarities in terms of iron ore mining and the Ilseder Hütte even before the merger.
In 2006, Ilsede hosted the Braunschweigische Landschaft cultural festival .
On July 10, 2014, the members of both municipal councils decided on the merger of the municipalities of Ilsede and Lahstedt, which had been planned in 1971 but was not realized at the time . Ilsede was also set as the name of the new municipality . Since January 1, 2015, the new community of Ilsede includes the areas and districts of the former communities of Ilsede and Lahstedt. Adenstedt, Gadenstedt, Groß Lafferde, Münstedt and Oberg have been part of the Ilsede community since then. The area of the municipality increased as a result of the merger from 28.45 km² (as of 2014) to 72.09 km² and the population of 11,366 (as of September 30, 2014). to 21,308 (as of January 1, 2015)

New coat of arms (from 2015)
The municipality of Ilsede has given itself a new coat of arms after the merger with the municipality of Lahstedt . The new coat of arms officially came into force with the adoption of the main statute on December 10, 2015 by the municipal council.
Blazon : “A silver wave bar in red ; above a striding golden , blue armored and tongued lion ; a silver mallet and a silver iron crossed at the bottom; accompanied on the right by a golden ploughshare and on the left by a golden six-spoke sun wheel . "
Justification of the coat of arms: The lion shown refers to the long-term affiliation of large parts of the community to the domain of the Guelphs and later the Duchy of Braunschweig-Lüneburg . The so-called tinging of the lion, gold on red, shows that the diocese of Hildesheim also ruled parts of the region until 1802. The Ilseder Hütte began operating in 1858, from then on, iron ore mining and blast furnace operations shaped the world of work and economy. As a symbol of mining, mallets and irons therefore found a central place in the coat of arms. Nevertheless, agriculture has remained an important economic factor to this day. This is represented by the golden ploughshare. The sun wheel and wheel of the year can be found as a symbol of luck and salvation on numerous carved wooden beams of farmhouses in many localities and represents a structural feature in the region. The Fuhse connects a large part of the localities of the municipality and is a symbol of the new unity as silver wavy bar in the coat of arms again. |
Old coat of arms (1971 to 2015)
The design of the old coat of arms of Ilsede comes from the in Gadenstedt born and later in Hannover living heraldic and graphic artist Alfred Brecht , who is also the emblem of Bantorf , Barrigsen , Egestorf has designed and many other villages in the district of Hannover. The council of the municipality of Ilsede approved the coat of arms on July 15, 1971, and the Hildesheim district president approved it on September 21, 1971.
Blazon : “In pewter cut red: gold divided ; above a striding golden lion and below a red ploughshare, covered with a golden hut sign (mallet and iron crossed). "
Foundation of the coat of arms: Due to the connection with the Ilseder Hütte, the name Ilsede has become known far beyond the local area. As a result, the mountain hammers have found a place in the Ilseder coat of arms, because the iron and steel industry and iron mining (here specifically the one operated in Bülten , a district of Ilseder, is meant) belong together. The mountain hammers were also already included in the coats of arms of the current Ilsede districts of Groß Ilsede , Bülten and Ölsburg . They lie in gold on a red ploughshare, the symbol of agriculture, in the lower, golden field of the coat of arms, which is divided by tin cuts. The golden Guelph lion walks in the upper, red half. Ilsede was in the border area of the Guelph and the episcopal Hildesheim area of power. This is reflected in the coat of arms of the old community of Ilsede, which contains the Braunschweig lion , but is kept entirely in the Hildesheim colors (because the prince-bishopric ruled there as a territorial power until 1802). The pewter cut is a symbolized representation of the castle contained in the Ölsburg coat of arms. |
