history

The foundation Rosenthal goes according to the Hildesheim Chronicle of Bishop Konrad II. Back to the 1240 castle and town Rosenthal built and have secured. After a few years, the castle was captured in 1255 and destroyed when Albert I of Brunswick-Luneburg against Wolfenbüttel and Hildesheim - now under Bishop I. Heinrich - fought. Rosenthal was ultimately to remain under Hildesheim rule , but due to the strong Peine Castle , a reconstruction of Rosenthal Castle was no longer necessary. Thus the place fell back to village status.

coat of arms

The coat of arms shows two red roses with green stems on a gold shield with a shield base divided in green. A black and silver cockchafer with outstretched wings can be seen between the roses below the inward-pointing rosebud shoots . The roses and the incision between the two indicated green hills in the base of the shield represent the place name figuratively. The beetle in the coat of arms symbolizes the nickname of the villagers.

The coat of arms was approved by the local council on September 11, 1962; the design was made by Conrad Schadinsky.
