Location of Stederdorf in Lower Saxony |
Stederdorf ( Low German Stierdorp ) is a district in the north of Peine in Lower Saxony .
history
The place is first mentioned in an undated document from the State Archives Hanover, which is assigned to the years from 1260 to 1280. For a long time the place was under the rule of the Guelph dukes , who stood here with a stone fortification directly opposite the Peiner Grafschaft, which had become part of the Hildesheim Monastery in the 13th century . The town's stone tower was destroyed as a result of the Herlingsberg War .
With the regional reform, which came into force on March 1, 1974, Stederdorf became a district of the city of Peine.

In 1971/72 the Catholic Church of St. John the Baptist was built on Teichstrasse . In 2008 she was profaned , she belonged to the parish to the holy angels in Peine. Today the building houses a municipal day-care center. The nearest Catholic church is now four kilometers away in Peine .
politics
The local mayor is Holger Hahn (SPD).
coat of arms
The coat of arms shows a blue Guelph lion standing upright and looking to the right with a red tongue on a golden shield, which is flanked by two blue diamonds. The lozenges come from the coat of arms of the von Oberg family , who had owned land in Stederdorf since the 13th century and exercised lower jurisdiction there until 1852. The colors blue-gold and the lion indicate that it has belonged to the Duchy of Braunschweig-Lüneburg for centuries .
The coat of arms was approved by the Interior Minister of Lower Saxony on July 7, 1951; the design was made by Rudolf Dehnke.
