coat of arms

The coat of arms shows a blue, soaring lion with a red tongue on a gold and blue split shield on the right, golden side. In the left, blue field there are three upright, golden pine cones above a slanted silver wolf tang or double hook. The lion and the colors blue and gold stand for centuries of belonging to the former Duchy of Braunschweig-Lüneburg . The pine cones and the double hook come from the coat of arms of Chamber Councilor Schenk von Winterstedt zu Schwachhausen and Lindhorst, who was resident here in the 17th century as a feudal lord and court lord.

The coat of arms was approved on December 8, 1961 by the local council and the district president of the Hildesheim district . The design comes from Alfred Brecht.
