The Wendesser Moor is a nature reserve in the Lower Saxon town of Peine in the Peine district .
The nature reserve with the registration number NSG BR 037 is 63.2 hectares in size. It is completely part of the EU bird sanctuary of the same name and almost completely surrounded by the landscape protection area "Blumenhagener Moor, Schwarzwasserniederung, Wendesser Moor, Staatsforst Peine, Harrenkamp, Flotheniederung". The area has been a nature reserve since February 2, 1973. The responsible lower nature conservation authority is the district of Peine.
The nature reserve is located north of the urban area of Peine in a lowland area with low and transitional bogs . In the west of the nature reserve there is a flat, formerly drainless valley basin . Here the moor had the beginnings of high moor development. The fen areas are partly used as grassland . In the center bog ponds are reed , reed - and sedge stocks, flood grass , purple moor grass - and cotton grass lawn, and pastures -Sumpfgebüsche and Bruchwald find remnants. In addition, there are tall herbaceous meadows and bog heaths .
The "Wendesser Moor" is u. a. Habitat of the highly endangered Coot species Spotted Crake , Little Crake , Water Rail and the Red-necked Grebe .
The area drains in the direction of the Schwarzwassers, a right tributary of the Fuhse.
To the east, there are further grassland areas in which there is an oil production area. The nature reserve is bordered by intensively used arable land to the north, west and south .
