Erwin Skamrahl

Erwin Skamrahl (born March 8, 1958 in Oberg ) is a former German athlete and Olympian who was a successful 400-meter runner in the 1980s . With the 4 x 400 meter relay , he became European champion in 1982 and won silver in the world championship in 1983. By profession he was a police officer with the Lower Saxony police and served with the Lower Saxony state riot police in Hanover. He later worked in security at Volkswagen AG . Best performances: 200 meters: 20.44 s and 400 meters: 44.50 s (both 1983).

Results

Erwin Skamrahl initially started for SV Union Groß Ilsede , to which he moved back in 1981. In 1980 and 1981 he was active for Post SV Hannover, and from 1986 he was a member of VfL Wolfsburg . In his playing days he was 1.78 m tall and weighed 67 kg.

For his services to sport in Lower Saxony , he was accepted into the Lower Saxony Sports Honor Gallery of the Lower Saxony Institute for Sports History in 1998.
