Hans-Joachim Reske (born April 9, 1940 in Bartenstein ) is a former German athlete and Olympic medalist who - starting for the Federal Republic - was one of the world's best 400-meter runners in the early 1960s .

Life

His greatest success is the silver medal at the 1960 Olympic Games in Rome with the 4 x 400 meter relay of the Federal Republic (3: 02.7 min, European record, together with Manfred Kinder , Johannes Kaiser and Carl Kaufmann ), for the he was awarded the silver bay leaf on December 9, 1960 . In these games he also competed in the 400-meter individual race, but was eliminated in the intermediate run.

He celebrated further successes at the European Championships in 1962 :

Reske started for SV Saar 05 Saarbrücken , from 1962 for SV Bayer 04 Leverkusen . In 1962 he won the German championship title in the 400-meter run. In his playing days he was 1.84 m tall and weighed 73 kg.
