Leslie Lewis

Leslie Lewis ( Leslie Charles "Les" Lewis; born December 26, 1924 in Chertsey , Surrey , † April 7, 1986 ) was a British sprinter who had specialized in the 400-meter run .

At the Olympic Games in London in 1948 , he reached the quarter-finals in the individual competition and was eliminated in the 4 x 400 meter relay with the British quartet in the preliminary run.

In 1950 he won silver over 440 yards at the British Empire Games in Auckland with his personal best of 48.0 s (corresponds to 47.7 s over 400 m) as well as with the English 4-by-110-yard and 4-time 440 yard relay. Over 100 yards he reached the semifinals, over 220 yards he was disqualified in the run-up. At the European Championships in Brussels he won the British 4 x 400 meter relay and was fifth over 400 meters.

At the Olympic Games in Helsinki in 1952 , he reached the quarter-finals over 400 meters and came in fifth with the British 4 x 400 meter relay.

In 1950 he became English champion over 440 yards.
