So in Love is a song from the soundtrack of the ghost film The Miracle Man ( Wonder Man ) from 1945 with Danny Kaye and Virginia Mayo . The song was composed by David Rose and the lyrics were written by Leo Robin . It is performed in the film by Vera-Ellen , who dances and tapes to it and is supported by The Goldwyn Girls and a dancer. The song is sung by June Hutton . For Vera-Ellen it was her debut film. Although she also sang on Broadway , she was mostly dubbed by June Hutton in her films.
Cover versions
Trudy Erwin and Ray Noble and His Orchestra recorded the song in 1945. In the same year it was covered by Eddy Howard , and in the late 1940s by the swing orchestras of Tommy Dorsey , Benny Goodman , Les Brown , Claude Thornhill , Harry James and Artie Shaw .
Award / nomination
The film was nominated for four Academy Awards in 1946:
- David Rose and Leo Robin with So in Love in the “Best Song” category . However, the award went to Richard Rodgers and Oscar Hammerstein for their song It Might as Well Be Spring from the comedy film Fun Fair ( State Fair ).
- Wonder Man won the Oscar for "Best Special Effects". There were further nominations in the categories “Best Film Music” and “Best Sound”.
