June Hutton

June Hutton (born August 11, 1920 in Chicago , † May 2, 1973 in Encino , California ) was an American singer.

She was the half-sister of Ina Ray Hutton and sang in their orchestra (as Elaine Merritt) from the late 1930s. From 1941 she sang as a member of the vocal group The Stardusters in the Charlie Spivak Orchestra, with whom she could also be heard in the film Pin Up Girl with Betty Grable . From 1944 she was a member of the Pied Pipers , with whom she had several hits (especially Dream ). In 1944 she made a solo recording with the Paul Weston orchestra . In the 1945 film Der Wundermann ( Wonder Man ), she sang the Oscar-nominated song So in Love. In 1950 she left the Pipers, pursued a solo career and recorded songs for Decca and from 1952 for Capitol Records . In 1953 she had three hits in the charts ( Say You're Mine Again , No Stone Unturned , For the First Time ).

In 1951 she married the band leader and arranger Axel Stordahl , whom she had met in the same year during her regular appearances on the Frank Sinatra TV show . Stordahl also directed the backup orchestra for many of her recordings at Capitol. In 1957 she made her last recordings for the TOPS label and then retired from the show stage.

She is buried next to her husband in Forest Lawn Memorial Park, Glendale .
