The mountain is located in the Lika-Senj County north of Starigrad-Paklenica in the Dinaric Mountains just outside the Paklenica National Park , a well-known climbing and cave area.

The peak of the Vaganski Vrh, which can be climbed from Starigrad via the Mala Paklenica, is famous for its wide view as far as Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Adriatic islands and, on a clear day, to Corno Grande in the Gran Sasso d'Italia in the Italian Apennines known.
