Stephan von Venningen († 1530 ) was the local lord in Grombach , which he acquired in 1498.

Life

He came from the Neidenstein-Zuzenhausen line of the Lords of Venningen and was a son of Johann von Venningen († before 1490) and Catharina von Bemberg.

In 1498 he was sued by Erpf (Erpho) von Venningen, "he killed his father, and Pfaltz himself was a judge."

Also in 1498 he acquired the castle and village of Grombach from Erhard von Helmstatt as an allodial property for 4,500 guilders. The community of Grombach protested because the forest, which had belonged to the community since the 13th century, had also been sold. The forest then remained with the municipality and the purchase price was reduced by 260 guilders. In 1502 there was another legal dispute over income from Grombach, which Erhard von Helmstatt had retained. The use of the forest was also the reason for a dispute with Philipp the Elder in 1520. Ä. von Neuenhauß at the nearby Neuhaus Castle , who had cleared trees in the forest in the Cuntzenklingen , whereupon boundary stones were set.

Probably from the inheritance of his wife, who descended from the lords of Gemmingen , he also had property in Meimsheim , which the couple sold to Plicker von Gemmingen in 1517. The Meimsheim property came to Württemberg about 50 years later .

In 1528 he complained to the city of Gundelsheim about his loan documents for 15,000 guilders that had been burned at Horneck Castle .

He died in 1530. The property in Grombach came to his brother Conrad († 1532), Baden councilor and court master , and his sons.

family

He was married to Margaretha von Gemmingen († 1530), the daughter of Dietrich von Gemmingen († 1428), lord of the castle on Maienfels and Vogt in Löwenstein . There were no offspring from the marriage.
