Kriss Kezie Uche Akabusi (born November 28, 1958 in London , England ) is a former British athlete and Olympian.

Life

Kriss Akabusi went to the British Army after school and was promoted there as an athlete. His first major international appearance took place at the 1984 Olympic Games in Los Angeles . From 1984 to 1992 he was a member of the British 4-by-400-meter relay . From 1987 he specialized in the 400 meter hurdles . His greatest success was the world championship title with the 1991 season, when the British season won with four hundredths of a second before the season from the USA, with Akabusi as the final runner overtaking the 1991 world champion Antonio Pettigrew . This British season consisted of three colored runners and one white man, curiously called Black.

Personal best over 400 meter hurdles: 47.82 s, set up in 1992 in Barcelona.

After his career, Kriss Akabusi appeared regularly on British television as a television presenter. For his services in and around sport, he was awarded an honorary doctorate in 1992 and was honored by Queen Elizabeth II with the Order of Member of the Order of the British Empire (MBE).
