David Grindley

David Allan Grindley (born October 29, 1972 in Wigan , Greater Manchester ) is a retired British athlete and Olympian. With a height of 1.88 m, his competition weight was 79 kg.

At the Junior World Championships in 1990 Grindley won silver with the British 4-by-400-meter relay . In 1991 he won gold in the 400-meter run and with the relay at the Junior European Championships .

In 1992 Grindley won bronze in the 400-meter run at the European Indoor Championships. At the 1992 Olympic Games , he improved the British record to 44.47 seconds in the semifinals. In the final he was sixth in 44.75 s. In the season he ran together with three reigning season world champions in the cast Roger Black , David Grindley, Kriss Akabusi and John Regis . In 2: 59.73 min, the relay won bronze behind the US and Cuba relay.

David Grindley regularly missed international championships due to injury in the following years. He never reached his best time, which he set when he was less than 20 years old.
