Jörg Vaihinger
Jörg Vaihinger (born October 8, 1962 in Dortmund ) is a former German athlete and Olympic medalist who - starting for the Federal Republic of Germany - was a successful 400-meter runner in the 1980s . His most important achievements came with the 4 x 400 meter relay , in which he won the bronze medal at the 1988 Olympic Games in Seoul . For winning the bronze medal at the 1988 Olympic Games, he was awarded the Silver Laurel Leaf.
Successes with the 4 x 400 meter relay
- 1982, 1986 and 1987 German indoor champion
- 1983 - World Championships : 2nd place (3: 01.83 min, together with Erwin Skamrahl , Harald Schmid and Hartmut Weber ; Jörg Vaihinger as second runner)
- 1986 - European Championships : Participated in the run-up to the relay that won the silver medal

Jörg Vaihinger started at the European Championships in 1986 and 1990 in the 400-meter individual race, but without reaching the finals. Joerg Vaihinger is one of the few German athletes who took part (also substitute) in three Olympic Games: 1984, 1988, 1992
Jörg Vaihinger initially belonged to the OSC Dortmund , from 1986 to the VfL Sindelfingen . In his playing days he was 1.91 m tall and weighed 84 kg. Today he works at a bank in Stuttgart.
