The Free Citizens' Initiative (short name: FBI ) has been an amalgamation of electoral associations in Germany since 2008 in order to be able to take part in European or federal elections. Even before that, municipal voter communities of the same name had won city council mandates in Dortmund , Paderborn and Xanten .

The organization took part in the 2009 European elections and achieved a nationwide result of 30,913 votes (0.1% share of the vote). The party also took part in the local elections in North Rhine-Westphalia in 2009 , and achieved 0.1% of the vote nationwide.

In 2010 a regional association " Free Citizens' Initiative Free Voters " (abbreviation FBI / Free Voters ) was founded, which in May 2010 had 350 members. The chairman is Hans Josef Tegethoff. The state association entered the state elections in North Rhine-Westphalia in 2010 with a state list of 13 candidates . The term “Free Voters” was used without the consent of the Free Voters of North Rhine-Westphalia (short name FREE VOTERS ).

program

Direct democratic elements and the abolition of mandatory parliamentary groups are intended to "shake off party rule" in Germany. Since there are no regional associations, the individual constituencies focus on local issues. Typical demands include "those for the introduction of free family cards in local public transport (Xanten) or for the socialization of the energy supply (Paderborn)". In Dortmund the FBI organized "Citizens' petitions against the expansion of an airport and the construction of minarets ".

The electoral community distinguishes itself from “right-wing extremist organizations”. She sees the threat to the rule of law democracy in “extremism” and “xenophobia” as well as in “parallel societies, social abuse, party affiliation and increasing crime”. It calls on "fundamental issues of European integration" referendums in Germany and rejects an EU -membership of Turkey from. In addition, German is to be used as the working language alongside English and French in the European institutions and Germany is to receive a higher proportion of votes.
