Gerhard Ahrens (born October 17, 1932 in Oberg ) is a former German football player . He was a member of the "Walter-Elf" at 1. FC Kaiserslautern .

Athletic career

From the 1954/55 season, after a year with the Lautrer amateurs, he became a member of the legendary "Walter-Elf". By 1958 Ahrens had played 38 league games (one goal) and four finals for the German championship for 1. FC Kaiserslautern. Before the 1958/59 season he moved within the Oberliga Südwest to Sportfreunde Saarbrücken and achieved an excellent 6th place with the newcomer. For four years he played in the major league for Sportfreunde. In 1962 Gerhard Ahrens moved to SV Alsenborn , who with Willi Hölz and Otto Render had signed other former 1. FC Kaiserslautern players and rose three times in a row up to 1965 to the Regionalliga Südwest , the second highest division at the time.

In 2003, Gerhard Ahrens wrote the books Cooking and Baking as well as What Helps , and in 2007 he published a book entitled Mythos Fritz Walter . In this book he describes his time at 1. FC Kaiserslautern, reports many little anecdotes about Fritz Walter, but also critically describes what has happened in recent years at this club as well as his playing and coaching time at SV Alsenborn.
