Gaby Willamowius

Gaby Willamowius (born June 16, 1966 in Hanover ) is a German educational scientist and political officer . She has been State Secretary in the Lower Saxony Ministry of Education since November 22, 2017 .

Life

After graduating from the Erich-Kästner-Gymnasium in Laatzen (1986), Willamowius began studying law at the Gottfried Wilhelm Leibniz University of Hanover , which she completed up to the intermediate examination in 1989. Then she began studying educational science there , which she graduated with a diploma in 1994 . Subsequently, she was the personal advisor to the Lower Saxony Minister for Women, Christina Bührmann, until 1996 .

Between 1999 and 2010 she was in the Lower Saxony State Chancellery a . a. Acting as deputy head of department for departmental coordination and planning , for science and culture as well as cultural policy , as advisor for departmental coordination as well as for government planning and project manager for the “Education Council at the Prime Minister of Lower Saxony”. In 2010 Willamowius became city ​​councilor for the city of Hameln and headed the “Law and Security” and “Education, Family and Culture” departments. In 2015 she returned to the Lower Saxony State Chancellery, where she became head of the “Policy Guidelines, Department Coordination and Planning” department.

On November 22, 2017, Gaby Willamowius was appointed State Secretary in the Lower Saxony Ministry of Education by Minister Grant Hendrik Tonne as part of the formation of the Weil II cabinet . She became the successor to Erika Huxhold , who was retiring.

Willamowius is married and lives in the Hanover region.
