Erika Huxhold

Erika Huxhold (born April 18, 1954 in Hann. Münden ) is a German ministerial official . From August 2015 to November 2017 she was State Secretary in the Lower Saxony Ministry of Education .

Life

From 1972 to 1977, Huxhold studied political science and sport for teaching at grammar schools at the Technical University of Hanover . She passed the first state examination in 1977 at the Technical University of Hanover and the second in 1981 at the state seminar in Meppen . From 1982 to 1987 she worked for Schroedel Verlag and at the same time worked as a lecturer in adult education.

Huxhold has been a member of the SPD since 1982 . From 1988 to 1990 she was the city of Syke's equal opportunities officer and from 1990 to 1992 she was in charge of the city of Achim's equal opportunities office . From 1992 to 1995 she was a parliamentary advisor to the SPD parliamentary group in the Lower Saxony state parliament . From 1995 to 1998 she worked as head of department and personal advisor to the Senator for Education, Science, Art and Sport of the Free Hanseatic City of Bremen, Bringfriede Kahrs . She then moved to the Lower Saxony Ministry of Education, where she worked as a consultant in the office of Education Minister Renate Jürgens-Pieper until 1999 and then as head of department until 2002. From 2002 to 2003 she was head of division in the Lower Saxony State Chancellery , from 2003 to 2006 head of division in the Federal Ministry of the Interior and from 2006 to 2009 department head in the Federal Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs . From 2012 to 2015 she worked as managing director of the SPD district of Hanover.

In January 2015, Huxhold returned to the Lower Saxony Ministry of Education as head of department. On August 1, 2015, she was appointed State Secretary in the Lower Saxony Ministry of Culture by Prime Minister Stephan Weil . In the course of the formation of the Weil II cabinet , Huxhold retired on November 22, 2017. Her successor was Gaby Willamowius .

Erika Huxhold lives in a partnership and lives in Hanover .
