Maximilian Skibicki

Maximilian Skibicki (born March 31, 1866 in Potsdam , † February 5, 1940 in Berlin ) was a German chamber musician and music teacher .

Skibicki studied with W. Sturm at the Royal University of Music in Berlin from 1886 to 1887 and received training as a double bass virtuoso . As such, he was a member of the royal court opera in Berlin from 1892 . In 1896 he was appointed royal chamber musician. In 1898 he was appointed teacher and later professor for double bass at the University of Music, where he remained active in music education until 1925. He undertook numerous concert tours in Germany and abroad (including Denmark, Norway, Sweden, Russia, Switzerland, the Netherlands). He was also a member of the New Berlin Chamber Music Association. He was married to Marie Nordmann since 1896.

He found his final resting place in the south-west cemetery in Stahnsdorf .
