Thomas Wünsch (State Secretary)

Thomas Wünsch (born June 16, 1969 in Schönebeck (Elbe) ) is a German lawyer and politician ( SPD ). From 2012 to 2016 he was State Secretary of the Ministry of Justice and Equality of the State of Saxony-Anhalt and has been State Secretary of the Ministry of Economy, Science and Digitization of the State of Saxony-Anhalt since April 27, 2016 .

Life

Wünsch studied law at the University of Halle-Wittenberg from 1990 to 1995 . From 1996 to 1999 he was a research assistant at the university, then did his legal clerkship and passed the second state examination.

Thomas Wünsch then headed the examination office of the Law Faculty of the University of Halle-Wittenberg until he became the personal assistant to Justice Minister Angela Kolb in 2008 . In 2010 he was promoted to head of the ministerial office, and in 2012 he was appointed state secretary to succeed Eberhard Schmidt-Elsaeßer .

In the course of the cabinet reshuffle after the state elections , Wünsch moved to the Ministry of Economics, Science and Digitization of the State of Saxony-Anhalt on April 27, 2016 and became State Secretary under Minister Jörg Felgner , and since 2017 under his successor Armin Willingmann .

Wünsch is a member of the SPD and chairman of the SPD local association Halle -Nordwest. He is divorced and has two daughters.
